On February 08, M Prabhu, a Jawan in the Indian Army, was beaten by a group of thugs armed with iron rods and sticks in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu. The key accused, a DMK councillor Chinnasamy, was arrested on February 15.
Prabhu was stationed at Srinagar and had come home on leave. He had been washing clothes near a tank in the village, when Chinnasamy objected and hurled abuses at him.
A heated argument later, Chinnasamy and goons arrived at Prabhu’s house and beat up his father and Prabhu. Prabhu later died of his injuries in hospital.
We discuss the delay in investigation and arrest of the accused and why Tamil Nadu is becoming a state steeped in crime and lawlessness.
